Sorry, Vincent, but I have been to Epson repair schools for laser, dot-matric and ink-jet. It was VERY specifically stated after a student asked that same question: Epson does NOT void your warranty for use of other types of inks. However, if THAT ink caused a specific failure then you must pay for the repair. Your warranty is still in effect for everything else. Using the GM example, if the oil specifies "SF" or 10-40 weight, and use some old "SC" or some 5-30, GM could void warranty on certain engine damage. One thing about Epson I have seen --from both sides of the fence (I haven't worked with them in years)-- is that they bend over backwards to keep customers happy if the situation is reasonable.
