RE: [Digital BW] Banding in BO Prints

2003-02-14 by Ed Mathews

Hi Tom,
It sounds like you are about 2-3 weeks ahead of my current track.
My 1280 just came this week, and I've been doing the Black Only
printing. The results are quite good on both matte and premium glossy
paper, but there is matamerism with the epson black ink (which others
have acknowledged also).
I just ordered Photoshop, and after that arrives and my current ink
runs out, my next move is to buy the MIS-VM inks and download Paul's
curves and try that. I've seen one of Paul's prints in a print
exchange, and although I didn't care for that particular toning, the
tonal values were smooth and superb.
I'm excited about all this learning and experimentation, I just
wish I had a solid two weeks of vacation and some unlimited funds to get
it done sooner and in a more intense way. Keep us posted about your
conclusions.

Thanks,
Ed
