I read an article on Luminous Landscape indicating C80 (a predecessor of C82) is a photo printer.Knowing C80 to be a four cart print, I wish to know how it compares with 1280 or 2200 models." I have a C80 that I use along with my other printers. The C82 is described as faster than the C80 and the max DPI is doubled. Somewhere I saw a comment about it not giving as good print quality as the C80. If you haven't already checked inkjetart.com for their evaluation, I'd do so. By the today's criteria, the C80/C82 is not a "photo printer" since it has only four colors. Compared to the two "photo printers" I use (1200 and 870), my C80's color output isn't as smooth/refined, but it isn't terrible either; also, the inks are pigment-type (more permanent), and the metamerism isn't as bad as with the 2000P, and its black does quite well on matte paper (compared to the 2000P black). I use my C80 for color-proofing, for general utility printing, and, also, for some BO (black-ink only) printing. The tone of the C80's regular black is slightly warm -- pretty similar to MIS's Original-QB black -- and I frequenly prefer its tone to that of the MIS FSN black I have in my 1160. In short, I find the C80 very reliable, and useful in a number of ways. Hope this helps. John Gittins [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
