Digital BW, The Print

Hi,
maybe this is a bit off topic, but I have a problem printing larger 
files with the 1290 under Mac OSX. It  takes an awfull long time 
because the printer stops printing for some seconds after every 
three or four printhead movements.
I suppose, the driver doesn´t have enough spool-space.
Any idea how I can assign a spool disc to the epson print 
manager under OSX?
