Treadwinkle, I use virgin cartridges to fill FS (and other) inks for my 1280 all the time. I buy the T009 and T007 carts from MIS because they sell them without the chip for ~ $5 less than InkjetGoodies with the chip. I reuse the chips by using one of those resetting gizmos. Vacuum filling is not difficult, but it will take a couple of tries to get the method down pat. Make sure you get at least six sets of septums ($10 each at MIS), so you don't have to clean/dry them between filling each chamber. Good luck.
