The Epson printers do not do well on a USB hub--put them on separate USB ports.  Before I put installed XP and added 2 more USB ports, I installed my 1280 on parallel and the 2200 on USB and had no problems whatsoever.

  That just might fix it. When I was fighting with XP over the wireless 
  network adaptor, it connected to the computer via USB.  In theory any 
  USB device that has been installed can be connected to any USB port on 
  the computer - independent on which one it on when the drivers were 
  installed. That's the way it works on ME, on 98SE on 2000. But when I 
  went to plug in the linksys adaptor onto a different USB port it could 
  find the drivers and wanted to install again. It will only work on the 
  port it was installed on.

  I think there are some significant issues with XP and it's USB support. 
  If you printers on a hub they are on the same USB port going into the 
  computer and if my experience is any indication the computer is getting 
  cofused.
