Truman, I had my 2200 on ME before XP.  There have been many posts on other forums about the fact that Epsons often have trouble connected to hubs.  I honestly never tried it--but just installed to a separate USB port and put the 1280 on the parallel.  I have not had any problems installing them on XP though--both are on separate USB ports.

  Given my experience with the network adaptor and XP I suspect it is XP 
  rather than the Epson. On my old box (ME ) I had a scanner, my 1280 and 
  my network adaptor and a cheap Cannon printer all sitting on a hub going 
  into a USB port. It worked fine.

  The problem I had with the network adaptor had to do with XP seeming to 
  want to assign a specific USB port to a specific piece of hardware.
