I don't know what exact inkset you're using, but with MIS quads the k ink is more dense than the lighter greys. So it has more pigment particles in it. The other positions are less clumpy and have less pigment per carrier fluid. It's well known that k ink usually gives problems first. Nothing to do with your printer or configuration- relatively, k ink is plain old gunkier.
