For MIS ink, it can follow the Epson ink well. I think the problem is
inksets like Lyson(?) cause major problems without flush carts. You
can use flush carts if you want it won't hurt anything.

Humidity is very important, one of the primary issues. I find that
45%RH as an ideal works more or less for me. My levels fluctuated from
35% to 60% with my humidifier before I enhanced it's humistat sensor. 

Before I used a humidifier I had a 20% RH period for three weeks. The
printer was not turned on during this time and had a killer clog when
I turned it back on. Some think elevation is a problem too, but you're
probably close to sea level(?).

I also advise folks to run a purge print or such in quick draft mode
on plain paper every day or so in my kind of dry environment. Maybe
you will find you only have to run one every week or so if you haven't
used your 1200.
