Yes, the dmg this an OS X distribution thing. Actually some of
the changes were because of the other Linux port i.e. to make
it more portable.  I've got to make up a new tar file to give you
new stuff.

I initially tried the Quadtone in 4.2 but there weren't any controls
plus I have a VM ink set so I don't think there's any way to use
it .  I've been in contact the gimp-print people so we'll see
how that goes.
