Roy,

I got Cups and Gimp-print going last night. Mandrake pretty much does it
for you. Are there significant changes/improvements between the
QuadGimp.tar.gz file you originally did and the QuadtoneRip.dmg.gz? I
assume the .dmg is an OS-X thing.

Did you see that there is a "Quadtones" ink selection in the last
Gimp-print release, and that the development version has separate density
controls for each ink? I wonder how (or if?) they plan on having different
curves for different papers? Maybe the Gimp-print people will put your
changes into the main-line Gimp-print?

Hi Keith;

I finally just last night got that developmental version (4.3.11)
going last night, haven't had much chance to test it, but the color
print I tried had microbanding across the entire range- how is your
print quality, and which version are you using?

It does have an impressive array of controls and curve boxes, though
it doesn't yet separate dark colors from photo colors for hextone
control.

Yes, the dmg this an OS X distribution thing. Actually some of
the changes were because of the other Linux port i.e. to make
it more portable. I've got to make up a new tar file to give you
new stuff.

I initially tried the Quadtone in 4.2 but there weren't any controls
plus I have a VM ink set so I don't think there's any way to use
it . I've been in contact the gimp-print people so we'll see
how that goes.

Steve,

The quality of the printouts is hard to judge. I only printed the
testimage and it was very light (with MIS-VM inkset, and Quadtones set as
ink). I'm not sure which version, whatever came with Mandrake 9.0.

Once I get my 802.11b link going (who knew that there were 3 or more
"versions" of the Linksys WUSB11, only one of which is linux-compatible),
I'll move to the development version.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
