I've just come over to the Epson camp myself so let me suggest andEpson 1280 printer and a set of good Quadtone inks for B&W or if you can take the splurge, go to inkjetmall website and look at the software available for printing B&W called Piezography BW for Epson inkjet printers. It runs $150.00. Good luck on your journey through digital photography. I think you will like it after some hurdles have been overcome. It is a learning curve involved with it.
