Charles, 

I get excellent prints using a 1280 on a mac with VM inks and Paul
Roark's curves using Photoshop 7.

My settings are Adobe RGB space, Heavyweight Matte paper media setting,
check "Color Controls", then automatic in the epson dialogue box, and
"Same as Source" in the final print dialogue box.
