With the original CIS, the tubing was just a little too long and I solved the problem with a piece of ½" dowel taped to the side of the black cart. Same effect as you achieved via your solution. Yesterday, the print again was 8" wide. And the arm wasn't sagging. I'm not sure why I suddenly had the problem again after so many months of operations without experiencing it.
