Eboni Problem

2003-04-02 by Chris Hargens

I'm running VM with a CFS on an 1160. I recently installed the new
MIS Eboni ink with a new cartridge. No problems at all for the first
8 or so prints. Today, some 4 or 5 days after last printing, I tried
to print. Started with a nozzle check -- perfect. When I started to
printed, however, I noticed about halfway through that terrible
banding was beginning to take place, as well as some small blotches
and pools of ink on the print. I stopped the printing and ran a
nozzle check. It looked pretty bad. I then ran a cleaning cycle -- no
help. I ran two more, still the same. Looking at the nozzle check, I
see that it is not always the same lines that are missing. It almost
seems random. What I'd be interested in learning is whether ink
pooling/blotching can occur with a foam problem or air-in-the-
cartridge problems, or is it a sign of something else. BTW I ran
several purges -- no help. Also, I would get a good nozzle check and
then that would be followed by bad one, almost seeming random.
Perhaps I should follow Robert Morrison's advice to someone else and
just not use the printer for a few days? Any help would be
appreciated.
