One more vote for the 1280. Don't worry about obsolesence. 1280's are in the middle of their technology life cycle. 1280's are not expensive compared to lenses or much else we buy. Someday we'll all need a better / bigger / faster upgrade. When that happens, you'll be glad you only had $400 invested in your 1280 and it served you well.
