>> what is the best way? Hi That's the biggest question! Whilst I'd not disagree about some of the other ink sets/inking systems/rips/curves that are suggested, you might want to look at some other options. I use Lyson SG on an 1160, I really like the inks, I've never had clogging problems and it fits in with what I want to produce. The inks are available for other printers(inc. Canon) as well. The inks might not get much mention on -this- list, but they do have quite a following. BUT... It all depends on what -you- want :-)) I'd suggest getting a sound knowledge of Photoshop before getting too deeply into curves and the like. An understanding of colour management (yes, for B/W :-)) and profiling will also greatly enhance the quality and consistency of your work. My own view is that there may be far better ways of spending your money than to get a RIP of some sort at the start. Maybe when you buy that really big printer... Have a look at the files/resources section of this group, I've also tried to collect information and links on these subjects in the links section of the site below. bye for now Keith Cooper Northlight Images http://northlight-images.co.uk Photography - Digital Imaging - Apple Mac Consultancy Tel +44 (0)116 291 9092 Mobile +44 (0)780 162 9397
