I'm going for a full hextone set, but I'll try the Y cart thing as well. > You don't mention it but you're also going to have to reset chips or > use brand new carts emptied. Or maybe you could grab a chip off one of > the CIS units for 2200 that I have heard vaguely of?? I've already got the universal chip resetter from MIS. It works perfectly on the 2100, and I've even used it on a brand new Epson cartridge that refused to work in my printer. After a reset everything seemed normal. With the price of a single cartridge being around $20 here it's nice to be able to make full use of every cartdrige. > MIS before the advent of virgin empties had a procedure for flushing > multi-chamber carts using a flushing manifold, and they still may sell > this and have a flushing procedure which uses lots of water. I found a good procedure from the links page of another site: http://www.anestoday.com/epson2200/index.htm http://www.anestoday.com/epson2200/download/MIS%20refill/bad%20refill%202200.htm?source=html/c80_refill.html It's from MIS, but I can't seem to find the same page on the actual MIS site. The cleaning method sounds very useful. Fortunately I already ordered several of these bottom fill adapters with my ultratones, so I can try the method as soon as easter is over here and we start to recieve mail again. > In converstaions with BZob Zeiss at MIS he also told me of them > hacksawing off the tops of carts and removing sponges, refilling from > top etc. I think he tried to saw it so that top could be put back on. The 2100 cartridge design is very different. There are almost no sponge material in the cartridge and it has a comlex layout of chambers with ink flowing in all sorts of directions. You can see an interesting explanation of the layout of the cartridge described in the link I mentioned above. I also use the refill method described there. > Of course this was NOT for 2100/2200 but 1280/1160, etc. You're > probably in open water here... Yes, it's a lot of fun! (Just hope I don't kill my printer in the process)
