Paul, After checking my supply, I am not sure what is in there. I ordered new inks from MIS a few weeks ago, but now realize that the black I put in was a few months old as I have both packages of the newer black on the shelf. The new boxes are marked MIS QVM black. As the older package was sealed, shelf life issues should not be a problem. I wonder if there is an issue with this particular item. It took three cleaning cycles to clear it this morning. Do you think it would be worth installing one of the newer carts on the chance that the one that is in there is defective? It is unlikely that the one in the printer is the Eboni ink given its age. So, I seem to have jumped to a conclusion based on others' comments on the list that may not be justified. The problem may have nothing to do with Eboni. It is strange though as I (knock wood) have not had problems to this point. I do remember the smell of the older inks when I installed them. However I switched both black and the color carts at the same time, so hard to tell what I smelled. As always, thanks for your help.
