Bernd, I am in the camp (without definite confirmation at this time) that the printers are the same barring: 1) Power supply; 2) Paper-edge sponge thinggies for edge-to-edge printing; 3) Firmware identity. It does not surprise me that the 1280 driver would therefore not function with a 1290, as, regardless of whether or not the printers are 'the same' they are identified differently for software control of edge-to-edge. All said without any definitive confirmation from anyone who might really know! My best reasoning for the last point is that, when downloading the latest drivers from the UK sites for just about any printer, they come in at virtually (exactly???) the same size - yet they will only work with a specific printer. Logically, 90%+ of the driver code must be exactly the same, the only differences will be: imgaes displayed in dialogs, language control, and printer features; colour management profiles. But of course, I always make an arse of myself when I 'assume' and try and apply logic to what other companies do with computers :) Best regards, Nij > -----Original Message----- > From: Ruhrfoto/Bernd L.
