You can arrange them as you wish in PS, create a canvas the size of 
your printed sheet, use the guides to create a template, use the snap 
to guide feature to align, add registration marks etc as needed.  I 
don't print from Illustrator personally.

If you are only purchasing a RIP with thoughts of using the layout 
features alone that'd be a waste of money in my opinion.
