So it's not just Ilford that is discriminated against. I asked Ed about High Speed Infrared once and he said that the T-Max 100 profile would probably do fine. And indeed it did. It also seems to work well for Tri-X, etc. I've even used it for Polapan 55 P/N negatives with great results. This suggests to me that there is not as much variability between black and white films as there is between color films.
