Using the full inkset it gives you metamerism. Using black-only only is an option for people with poor eyesight or bizarre tastes. I don't know WHY this urban myth that the stock Epson 2200 is good for black and white won't go away. It's like something from the Night of the Living Dead - you just can't kill it. However, with a RIP (the Epson RIP @ $200 is your cheapest option), the 2200 does a very good job with B+W. Whether it's better than quadtone/hextone/septone is a matter of personal taste, but at least it gets you into the ballpark).
