Re: [Digital BW]Epson cartridge MIS black clog won't go away on epson 1280

2003-05-20 by Alan Zimmerman

I just started using MIS cartridge inks on Epson 1280. Printer had worked flawlessly with Epson dye based inks previously. Within one day, with the Mis Black cartridge I experienced banding on a grayscale file with Black only, (no gray or quad cartridge on line).. I then did 3 nozzle cleans and banding diminished but still visible with 15x loupe. next print same story. as of this second day, and after 10 nozzle cleanings no relief. Any one have any suggestions?
BTW, the same image file printed on Epson black only cartridge and Epson dye had much less visible banding under 15x loupe.?
Would are COne system Piezzo inks less likely to clog-----

Ugh got a real bad clog on my 1160. CIS Black ink.
Have tried all the usual solutions. Both liquid and mechanical. Cones
tips and tried ammonia and alcohol. Also some strange cleaning fluid
from that company in Las Vegas. Did not work.
I hardly get any ink coming out of that nozzle, the numbers don't even
  print.

I suppose I have to get it serviced.

One last idea was to get an original Epson black cartridge and see if that
ink will open up the nozzles. Does anyone think that is a good idea or are
there some new ideas for cleaning . I have not looked around for cleaning
  ideas since last summer.

I need to start making some new B&W print quadtones. By the way this clog
  is with MIS inks!!!
