Hi I use Vuescan for just about all my scanning and find that with a bit of tweaking I can get good scans of colour negs with my FS4000. I make a point of scanning in colour and then doing the conversion to Black and White in Photoshop. I was recently looking at this again (for some images from a digital camera) and if anyone is interested I've put up a comparison page with a colour original and 12 different results at: <http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/bwfromcol.html> The differences are quite subtle between some techniques. I'd welcome any comments or additional methods that anyone might suggest. And no, before anyone starts, I did not intend the alleged Tri-X 'simulation' to re-ignite that recent lengthy 'debate' we had on the list! :-)) :-)) :-)) bye for now Keith Cooper
