Problem solved! I got some very good help from Reinier on and off list. It turns out there were three problems: 1. The Gimp overrides the quadtone settings and uses settings and drivers of its own. I solved this by running lp directly from the command line and also by using gtklp which is basically a graphical interface for lp. 2. The variable CUPSBINARY had to be changed to /usr/lib/cups/filter in several files. 3. I had to set read access on /usr/share/cups/quadtone/ and all its contents - This was very important, as it would otherwise just ignore the curve settings entirely. I'm running my first tests now, and it looks very promising. I'm getting the most dotless prints I've seen since I installed the Ultratones in my 2100. I'll report back when I've had a chance to do some more testing. -- Daniel Staver http://daniel.staver.no
