Anyway, the burn/dodge tool is quite awkward to use when Alessandro, I don't know if you are aware of it or not, but using masked adjustment layers is a great way to do contrast and value control on your images. All changes you make with the Burn/Dodge tools are more or less irreversible once they have left the history palette or the file is closed. There is a pdf and sample image on my site that details exactly how to use this technique, if you aren't familiar with it I think you will find it quite interesting.
