I don't see any quality differences although in theory the extra nozzles should help. I went from a 1200 to a 1280 which was a big improvement due to all the clogging and banding problems on the 1200. At this point it just seems better to get a brand new 1280 rather than hassle with a used 1160 or trying to importing one and doing the power conversion. Software is also something to consider. Some of the new programs may not support the older printers. Martin
