Hi, I was a bit inaccurate. It's the right thumb that should supply a slight pressure. My reels seem to be about 3/32" wider than the film, but it doesn't affect loading for me. I urge you to try the prethreading with about 4 inches of film. The film is so wiggly, in comparison to 35mm that it has a tendency to come out of the track if you don't already have enough film in the track before you start winding.
