Maybe a stupid question, but:
why bother removing the tape while installing cartridges?  The spikes in 
the head will go through
anyway.  Are you concerned about the traces of glue on the tape?  
I use CIS with UT right now - works great, but I would like to know my 
options.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
