The size of bead completely depends on the paper, the rod and the size of the print that you are coating...so you just need to determine by experiment. I use about 4-5ml of Hydrocote for an 8x10 final print with a #30 rod with Eclipse. The key is to spread the bead out...but not all the way to the edge of the paper because the bead spreads as you drawdown. I almost always trim 2-3 inches at the top, 1 inch at the bottom and 1/2" on the sides after the print is dry.
