I am finally getting my head around colour management which is a real bonus as I do most of my work in mono! I use an Epson 1270 loaded with CIS Ultratone Mono Inks printing onto EAM and Permajet Glossy and Matte Papers. I print from both PS7 and QImage but prefer the latter. However I do not use the generic Epson 1270 profile in either because I find it lays down too much in the shadows (on a wedge chart blocks from 85% upwards!). I know that you can profile colour charts using a Gretag Macbeth to give a comparison between what the GM equipment thinks the colours should be and what the printer has printed them as and provide a frig factor to bring the printer inline with the GM colour range. The question I am asking is - How do you provide a mono solution for ink/paper profiling because I do not have access to a colour printout? Would it be as simple as converting the GM chart to mono and then scanning it in as all the GM kit is looking for is a difference rather than an absolute number? Thanks for your help in advance. Gareth
