The photographs I make which are admittedly bad will thus be thrown away after I am gone. The question of how long they could last is moot. But good photographs will be kept by the people who want them kept after the photographer is dead. How to keep the photos will be their problem and their solution. It ain't DaVinci who is working the problem of longevity of the Mona Lisa. It is worked by each generation who want the painting kept rather than thrown away. My point is that it is pointless for the artist to worry about how long his or her art will last.
