Kay, Don't feel dumb. It isn't very intuitive. Put the downloaded action in the Photoshop->Presets->Photoshop Actions folder. At least in PS6 that's what you do. If PS is open close it and restart it. Then see the history and Actions Tab? To the right there's an arrow. Click that and select Load Actions. Find your action, select it and hit load. That's it. Open your image, click on the Action tab and look for Goodies_v1.01, select the arrow next to it so it's pointing down and then select Grayscale Conversion. Then at the very bottom you'll see an arrow pointing to the right, select it and you're off.
