I recently had a friend ship a 1290 to me in Greece.  It weighed just 
over 10kg.  Based on this, if you go to

and click on "postal calculator" you will find that, with insurance 
it will cost about GBP75.  Then there are customs and duties in the 
US!

You may need a wire wound transformer on top of that as others have 
suggested.

I guess ebay is a better option.

Maybe I should set up a container shipment from the UK?
