I fixed the same problems on my 1200s by cleaning and lightly lubricating the print-head guide (the track the print head glides on). You might give it a try. Chandos My printer is kind of broken now though. I thought it was dead for a long time because every time I switched it on and tried to print it would make this loud, screeching noise and start to blink all its lights and I would have to switch it off. I finally figured out how I could lower the little lever next to the print head manually before each print and avoid the problem, but I'll have to send it in soon, before my warranty runs out. The service is really poor though, they demand that I send the printer to them through the post office and I don't even have a box that big to send it in, so I've been putting it off for a while now. Anyway, it could be that the problem with my printer is somehow related to the inkset and/or extensive refilling and frequent switching of cartridges that I've done, or maybe the chips wear out with time, I don't know...
