In order for any application that runs under windows (like Photoshop) to
take advantage of a second processor in that system, the application in
question must have been designed in the first place to support
multiprocessors (ie, a multi-thread application). As far as I know,
Photoshop (at least on the PC platform) is not a multi-thread application,
and can therefore not take advantage of a second processor, even of one is
present in the system.

Also, with earlier versions of Windows 2000 that I have worked with, if one
starts out with a single processor system, and at some later date, a second
processor is added, one must RE-INSTALL the OS in order for the operating
system to recognize the presents of the second processor. I don't know about
you, but re-installing Windows 2000 is not my idea of a fun day at the
beach. Having said this, I'm not sure if the current versions of WIndows
2000 have this feature. Might check the Microsoft knowledge base to make
sure.

  Oh, yes.  I'm running two monitors on that XP PRO system.  One other item,
XP PRO has dual processor capability.  You may or may not care about that.
At some point, however, I intend to upgrade to dual processors.  That's the
main reason I chose XP PRO over XP HOME for the PS machine.  There doesn't
seem to be any difference in the performance of the two operating systems,
however.
