Re: [Digital BW] For Martin (somewhat OT?) Monaco didn't work

2003-09-18 by Jack M Kucy

Richard,
I have been using MonacoEZcolor2.5 for a while. I am happy with it.
 But you have to
remember, that it's not a ready solution out of a box. In order for any
calibration software
to work you have to do the work yourself as well. If you chose the
color space of the
monitor you have to have the matching ambient light for viewing prints,
and a subdued light
in the vicinity of the monitor. Also, you have to make the profiles of
the paper (each paper
has to have it's own profile). And since the using the scanner for the
profiles is not the most
accurate method you have to tweak the profile afterwards in the provided
facility until your
test prints mach what you have on the screen. Otherwise is a money
thrown out of the
window.
I do believe, that provided you follow all the steps of the process you
will be quite satisfied
with your prints using the Monaco software for calibration.
Hope it helps.
Jack
