Jim: There is no vacuum -- the carts have been filled and the pressure inside the carts is at atmospheric. The tubes are clipped off to keep the ink from running out. All you need to do is install the carts and tubing clips and insert the tubes into the bottles and adjust the tubing lengths as necessary. As the ink in the carts starts to go down, it will create a tiny vacuum and pull the ink from the bottles as well as any air bubbles in the lines. Hope this helps.
