RE: [Digital BW] photogravure and the Epson 2200

2003-10-29 by David R. Spielman

Jen,

I've developed the Photoshop adjustment curve below for digital negatives
used to print on silver/gelatin print material.

In Out
0% 10%
5% 11.9%
10% 13.9%
20% 17.6%
30% 21.9%
40% 26.5%
50% 31.5%
60% 36.8%
70% 43.0%
80% 52.0%
90% 70.0%
95% 87.0%
100% 100%

Using a Epson 2200, and Pictorico OHP material. Setup: photo black ink,
Premium glossy photo paper setting, untagged grayscale image, printer
source, same as source. Let the negative cure overnight before using.

Works great!
Best Regards,

David R. Spielman

Subject: [Digital BW] photogravure and the Epson 2200

Hi! just wondering if anyone had any favorite methods for
making digital positives for photogravure purposes on the Epson
2200. I have Dan BUrkholders book, and have been using
Pictorico OHP. I've used the curve provided on the CD from the
Book, but since the Epson 2200 is much newer than the book i
  thouhgt i'd ask around .

Are there any better curves? What is the best printing method?
I've just been using a workflow for Epson Photo Quality Glossy
Film (no color adjust) and 2880dpi, with photo black of course.

I work for a school and we are trying this out for use in a class.

any tips or info very very much appriciated!

  jen
