Digital BW, The Print

does anyone out there familiar with GIMP-PRINT know when the resolution issues will 
be corrected? when printing to a 2200 with a resolution higher than 1440X720 GIMP/
QTR floods the page with ink. my problem lies in that printing 1440x720 sometimes 
reveals a slight horizontal banding, its not awful but its there, and its worse on some 
papers than others. when i print color i find that the slight banding, if any, is always 
cured printing 2880x1440. i also like the added detail of 2880, its subtle but 
noticeable. any thoughts or info?
