Looks like I got the dreaded out of ink red light on my Epson 1280 MIS CFS. Now it seems I have a damaged chip. Odd thing though, I took the CFS out of my 1270 just to see what would happen, now both printers think they are out of ink and neither CFS can be reset. These are the earlier chips that require the F16 chip reseter (which won't reset once you get to a red light status though). I was reading on the MIS site (inksupply.com) and they now have a new auto reset chip.... does anyone have experience with these new auto reset chips? Secondly, does my sympton sound like I just did not place my alternate CFS into my 1280 (from my 1270) properly, or does it sound like my printer is damaged, and therefore, corrupts the chips of any cartridge I put into it? I ordered a couple of OEM cartridges just to validate. I have some deadlines coming up so I am deciding whether I need to purchase another 1280 to make sure I can get my printing done.
