The whole concept that artist work is pristinely clean studios was started by those not in the arts, or by the artists' middle class mothers who are embarrassed by the reality. ;- ) Almost every story of artists and their studios shows what a complete mess their spaces are....Why it is so hard for non creative types to comprehend how artists can hold more than one thought in their head at a time is beyond me. The whole point of being an artist is seeing beyond one's personal reality. Cleanliness does not connote artistic creativity....Probably just the opposite.
