Paul, I have a 3000 and only print with German Etching 310 and Photo Rag 308. I place the paper in the manual feed slot in the top of the printer. I grasp both top edges of the paper with my hands and wait for the printer to start trying to feed the paper. As this happens, I push down firmly but not too hard...enough for the printer feed mechanism to grab the paper. Works every time.
