>The Epson Repair Manuals for older printers up to the 1270 can be >found on the Epson UK web site. >http://www.epson.co.uk/repair/ Thanks Jeff and others for the tips on how to change the 1160 waste ink pads. I'm happy to report that the machine is up and running again, stuffed with the absorbent material found in "sanitary napkins." The repair manual was very useful in doing this task. However, it's a messy task that I might well have the Epson repair person do next time. The lesson I learned from this is that when the printer lights go on and require service -- do it. I just re-set the printer, based on someone's observation that these required services are not really needed nearly as often an the printer calls for them. When I moved the printer a couple of months after the lights came on ink ran out of it. This could have been a real disaster if we had carpets or things that would be damaged by ink. So, pay attention to those lights that tell you to get the printer serviced. The pads get really saturated with ink and might make a real mess if not changed soon. Paul http://www.PaulRoark.com
