The full 16-bit processing (except for some of the special effect plugins) simplifies my workflow. The new Camera Raw works much better than the old one on the Canon 10D. The old one needed hacking to get it to recognize the camera, and the color balance was way off. The new one has chromatic aberration correction that operates on the Bayer pattern data, as well as vignetting correction. The only downside to the new Camera Raw plugin is that it puts EXIF data into a new XMP format, which makes it invisible to most applications. This is a new XML-based standard invented by Adobe, which looks like it will be really nice once the rest of the universe gets on board, but it's a problem for the time being (if you care about EXIF data). There are other features that I haven't even tried yet, but those two are worth the $170. Don't try to run it on an old, underpowered machine, though. -- Ciao, Paul D.
