Are there any early reactions to CS? Is it worth the upgrade from PS 7.1 with Camera Raw? Any bugs or problems? Thanks, Steve

Hello Steve, >Are there any early reactions to CS? Is it worth the upgrade >from PS 7.1 with Camera Raw? Any bugs or problems? I'm very happy with it. No problems on installation and works without a hitch. Being able to do everything in 16 bit is the most important change for me. The new file browser is really nice and finally usable (I never used it in 7, it was so poor). The RAW converter is very good - it does a better job than the one that came with my Canon G3. Thanks to both you and Alan. Now that I have upgraded my computer it sounds like it is time to upgrade PS. Steve > Hello Steve, > > >Are there any early reactions to CS? i second everything clayton says 16 bit editing is a joy, much easier than the old workarounds, reason enough to upgrade for me. john e --- Clayton Jones <cj@...> wrote: > Hello Steve, > > >Are there any early reactions to CS? The full 16-bit processing (except for some of the special effect plugins) simplifies my workflow. The new Camera Raw works much better than the old one on the Canon 10D. The old one needed hacking to get it to recognize the camera, and the color balance was way off. The new one has chromatic aberration correction that operates on the Bayer pattern data, as well as vignetting correction. The only downside to the new Camera Raw plugin is that it puts EXIF data into a new XMP format, which makes it invisible to most applications. This is a new XML-based standard invented by Adobe, which looks like it will be really nice once the rest of the universe gets on board, but it's a problem for the time being (if you care about EXIF data). There are other features that I haven't even tried yet, but those two are worth the $170. Don't try to run it on an old, underpowered machine, though. -- Ciao, Paul D. DeRocco Paul mailto:pderocco@...
