For 35mm, 2700 dpi scanners are around $200-300 (Minolta). 4000dpi scanners are around $500 I think (Canon, Nikon). The newest Minolta 5400dpi is around $750 (I have one of these, it's great). For medium format, 4000 dpi scanners start at around $1700 for the discontinued Nikon 8000, and about $2700 for the latest model. Take all these prices with a grain of salt.
