Sean and Anders, I have a 2200 and I spent a long time producing custom profiles for it thinking that I might improve on the supplied paper profiles. After many hours my conclusion was that mine were very little different from Epsons, assuming that you are using their papers. I personally have not found a paper any better for color work than Epson. B/W is of course a entirely diffent matter. Some kind of RIP is the way to go with the 2200, QTR is wonderful is you have a Mac or Linux system. If not and you are PC bound it's going to cost you about $500 for a PC rip. The good news is that some of the Rips can be used for multiple printers. I can help you out with questions on b/w printing. Wait with the 3200 scanner since a newer model is coming out with higher dpi and same price, 4800, and it scans a full 8x10.Iwould go for the 2200 and get custom profiles made. But the 2200, even with PhotoBlack inks, does not print as well as the 1280 on the glossy media. 2200 is for matte and fine art paper with Matte Black, that is where it is the best. The 1280 is a perfect marrige with Carbon inks though. > > Thank you, > Anders > > > > t.net> wrote: > I'm thinking about jumping to a digital output. Currently looking at > 1280 and a 3200 scanner.
