Digital BW, The Print

Hi Tom,

My current setup for B&W (as well as color) printing is: Epson 2200/UC inkset/IP 5.6 Lite. In my dark past, I did, at one point, use the old PiezoBW plugin and original Piezo inks. IMO, I would judge the IP B&W prints as being "as good as" or slightly better than the Piezo prints. I also like the fact that I can subtlely shift the print color tone (cool-to-warm) with IP. Please keep in mind that I'm comparing to the old Piezo system and not the new ICC profile system.

BTW, before Jon Cone introduced his new ICC Piezo system he publicly touted IP as being as good as his PiezoBW Pro system for the large format Epson printers. High praise indeeed, to my mind.

I really don't find usability to be an issue with either one. In fact, I really appreciate the layout window in IP and the simplicity of print quality selection. I understand that IP versions prior to 5.6 were not as intuitive; for instance, the proper inkset was not selected based on the paper profile. I only have experienced with the latest version.
